Story by Anastasia Devlin U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Steve Jayne, a reservist who works as a senior scientist with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, deploys an Air-Launched Autonomous Micro- Observer profiling float, commonly referred to as an ALAMO, during a tropical storm over the Gulf of Mexico.
